One of the challenges homeowners encounter as they go home at nighttime is navigating blindly through their dark backyards towards the inside of their homes.

Sometimes they are guided only by the lights at their neighbors’ houses. Other times, they use the flashlights of their phones to show them the way. After all, it is not energy-efficient to leave lights on especially when you are leaving in the early hours or for several days away on vacation.

This is where the efficiency of floodlights comes in. They help you to see clearly at night so you will not break things and injure yourself as you make your way towards your front door.

Really pleased with these so far. Look great and super easy to set up and unlike other brand security light products I purchased two years ago, are well made and waterproof, which is important as I live on a beach. All metal fittings appear to be stainless steel and I like the single bolt mounting system, which gives a good seal around the supplied foam mounting gasket and is better than external screws, much neater and you even get a cap to fill the mounting hole. Great performance and I just ordered 3 more with higher wattage for to eliminate larger areas! Very impressed and highly recommended.

In the before and after pictures, I had an old motion light that was broken and continuously going on at all hours of the night. Was bright with the 5000k floodlights I installed but wanted more spaced covered by light. Installed the LEPOWER and man are they bright. Super easy to install and motion sensor is extremely sensitive to humans and not animals which is what I wanted. Love the fact that they can be swiveled to cover numerous areas.

Removed our current light and installed this one in 15min. There’s only two screws and three wire nuts. It’s not rocket science. Just make sure you turn off the breaker and check with a multimeter and this is a really easy home repair. The unit itself is solidly built from metal. The light sockets have a silicone insert/washer to keep out water. This is a upgrade over the typical cardboard that most “cheap” units include. The base of the unit has a foam O-ring that waterproofs the base of the unit to the electrical box it’s mounted to. I would definitely buy again.

My husband is very particular about his outside lighting and I bought this one without his knowledge. It’s been up for 2 nights now and he’s still talking about it. He said it was easy to install and lightweight. He really likes how bright it is and the wide coverage area the lights cast over. He says he cannot get over the fact that these are LED lights. He’s considering taking down our other 4 lights and getting just 1 more of these to do the job of lighting up the back and side yard of our property. We live out in farm and rural areas where street lights do not exist. Great light so far!

I got these to replace two of the old halogen motion lights on the corners of my house. I was got tired of keep replacing the bulbs every six months or so, and the bulbs are super expensive compared to the modern day LEDs. This nature of LEDs are definitely going to outlast halogen bulbs, and they are so much more brighter than the dual halogen bulbs they are replacing. I initially was worried that moisture will get to the sensitive parts and damage it, but these ones have a protective rubber cover on the switch itself so no worries there. This one is also fully automatic, meaning no more having to setup timer, dusk setting, duration, etc like on the traditional motion lights. It turns on at dusk, and will light up for 30 seconds and turns off by itself. All you’d have to do it turn it on. As a bonus, as a solar light, these will also save me some $$$ on electricity. If you have not given these a try you should.

Bought 2 wired Floodlight Cams. One in back and one in front. These have smart alert functions that hit on people and animals quite reliably, and not cars going down the street (not all ring products have this). No batteries! WiFi range is good. IR night vision excellent! Can see 50 ft at night with no floodlight. Color video is great! Lots of options, motion zones, light zones, scheduling. REALLY solid product!!! Video is wife going to work in the morning. 60 seconds of floodlight help her see. I would like to add that if wifi signal at Ring device drops below about RSSI-70, then live view on cell phone seems to revert to a snap shot. However, the video is sent to the cloud and can be watched later. I moved my WIFI router to get RSSI-56 on one camera and RSSI-47 on the other one. This seems to be the key to getting these cameras to work as designed. RSSI for your camera can be found in Device Health on the app.

Features to consider in getting the best LED floodlight?

Getting floodlights for your home provides you not only better visibility, but added security as well. Instead of wondering what’s hiding in the dark, you can easily see it because of the illumination floodlights can provide you. This is why you need to choose them wisely.

However, with all the choices available in the market at present, picking one can be overwhelming. Thus, we have rounded up the most important features to consider to help you out.

Weatherproof

Floodlights are normally installed outdoors. Because of this, it is understandable that they are exposed to different weather conditions and elements. When your floodlight is not waterproof and is not equipped with a heat dissipation casing, it is possible that it can suffer easily from corrosion and overheating that may reduce its lifespan.

As you choose your floodlight for the first time, it is important that you are discerning about its makeup. One of the options you have is picking one that is made up of aluminum and with the necessary outlet that allows easy dissipation of heat. You should also choose one with an IP rating because this will tell you how much your floodlight model is protected against rain and sleet. This is important particularly when you live in a place that suffers from extreme weather conditions.

Longevity

Like you don’t want your floodlight to break easily due to exposure to different elements, you’ll also not want to use it for only a short amount of time because it is simply made that way. Thus, longevity should also factor in your decision when you choose a floodlight.

While some floodlights can live up to a few months only, there are those good-quality ones that can survive for years. You’ll want to choose the latter especially when you want to get the most out of your money. After all, not all floodlights come cheap. So you’ll want to get the most out of them.

Brightness

The number one purpose of floodlights is to illuminate. It just makes sense to get one that provides the best illumination without being too much for the neighbor and without that glare that can cause a headache.

How many lumens should a floodlight be?

Different floodlights feature different numbers of lumens. The lumens determine how bright the floodlights will be. The higher the lumens a floodlight has, the brighter it is.

In selecting a floodlight, consider how bright you want your floodlight to be. Normally, floodlights incorporating 700 to 900 lumens already provide a good amount of brightness. But if you want a floodlight that will give you illumination like the sun, then getting one with several thousand lumens will be the best choice for you.

Who makes the brightest flood light?

In the selection available in the market, the brand Morsen is known to produce one of the brightest LED floodlights. Said model boasts 48000 lumens.

RuggedGrade also produces extremely bright floodlights. Their NextGen II Model LED Flood Light features 40000 lumens.

Energy-efficiency

While you want to efficiently provide lighting to the dark areas of your property, you’ll likely not want your floodlight causing a high energy bill. Considering this, you’ll want to choose a floodlight that is energy-saving.

Do flood lights consume a lot of power?

Many individuals believe that just because floodlights emit immense amounts of light, they also consume a lot of power. While this can be true with some floodlight models, there are floodlights that do not make use of much energy at all.

One of the keys is in choosing the wattage of your floodlights. Low wattage means that your floodlight requires relatively lower energy, allowing you to save more. This includes floodlights with wattage ranging from 15 to 40 Watts.

Note that lower wattage doesn’t always mean dim floodlights. There are still floodlights that deliver thousands of lumens despite having a lower wattage.

Another energy-saving option is to choose a floodlight that is either battery-operated or solar-powered. Know that choosing the latter is choosing a clean energy source too.

Color

The light color also matters when picking a floodlight. This is determined by the unit of measure that is Kelvin. You’ll want your floodlight to have a higher Kelvin if you want it to be white.

Many homeowners prefer a cooler light for their floodlights because of aesthetics. They think this suits the look of their homes better.

Range

Floodlights should cover as much distance as possible. This will save you a lot of money from needing to buy multiple units just to ensure that all the areas in your property that you want to illuminate are covered. You may also want one with an adjustable angle. In that way, you can adjust it if you need a wide coverage or just a limited one that will not disturb your neighbors.

Range does not only mean the coverage of the floodlight. If your floodlight is equipped with a motion sensor, you should prefer one that can reach a reasonable distance too. At the minimum, it should cover a decent part of your property that you will get alerted of trespassers who get too close.

Smart Features

Who will not say no to smart features? Many homeowners nowadays prefer this. Not only do these allow them convenience, but the added smart features provide also better security and added value to one’s home.

One good example is the motion sensor which triggers floodlights to automatically turn on when you come within range. This is a good alert system when someone tries to break into your property or even when you just need illumination as you walk around your yard.

Other types of smart features include the dust to dawn sensor that allows floodlights to automatically turn on when it’s dark outside and off when there is sun, a camera for live feed viewing and video recording, and two-way communication.
