Reviews: The Best Wireless Home Security Cameras in 2024

Below you’ll get to review and compare the 5 best wireless home security cameras from our evaluations.

Best Overall

Reolink Argus 3 Pro

Our Rating:

4.0

The Reolink Argus 3 Pro was the no-brainer, overall the best wireless security camera for us. It pretty much ticks off all the boxes in terms of features, price, and usability. Can you believe that it offers virtually identical performance to the Arlo Pro 4 at a whopping 65% off the original price?

Compared to Ring and Arlo, its cloud storage isn’t really outstanding. However, it has the benefit of local storage thanks to its microSD card slot. This way, saving footage from your Reolink wireless camera does not need a membership.

It is also an economical wireless solar security camera, which is a plus. Reolink solar panels are available for approximately $30, which is roughly half the cost of those from its competitors. On top of these, you also get good night vision range, compatibility with almost all popular smart home devices, and good camera quality. Installation is extremely easy too.

PROS

  • 100% wireless and simple to setup
  • 2K HDR color night vision video
  • Compatible with Google, Alexa, HomeKit, and IFTTT
  • A great number of third-party integration
  • With siren
  • Hub-free

CONS

  • No replaceable battery

Top Review

Pretty easy set up and features are as stated. Great clarity, love the notifications to phone, monitoring works most anywhere. The night spotlight is terrific and gives good color and clarity to night vision. Haven’t been able to set up the account with Windows 10 on laptop, but phone app works pretty slick.” – Stan”

2. Nest Cam

Best for Device Range

Nest Cam

Our Rating:

4.4

Equally as amazing as the Reolink Argus 3 Pro is the new Nest Cam (Battery). What sets this wireless camera apart is its user-friendliness. So, if you’re looking for a beginner-friendly wireless security camera, this is the way to go.

The Nest Cam (battery), released in 2021, is an excellent addition to the lineup of excellent security cameras that Nest has been producing for some time. The camera requires little effort to set up but produces outstanding results regardless of ambient light. It is suitable for indoor and outdoor use.

Although a longer cable would be ideal, particularly for use in the great outdoors, the fact that the gadget stores the last three hours of events locally means that you won’t need to pay a membership fee until you want to access additional historical data.

There is a clear impression that all of the hardware was created with the purpose of simplifying life for the user. The e magnetic mounting mechanism, setting up, adjusting, and taking down the device is a sheer delight. The magnetic charging cord is just as straightforward.

The Nest Cam features premium (and also not exorbitant) pricing, as well as subscription services and accessories expenses that are on the pricey side. However, the device’s streamlined setup and operation, as well as its broad set of features, make it well worth the cost, and most customers will not be disappointed if they decide to purchase it.

PROS

  • Very high-quality footage
  • Battery-operated, on-site data backup
  • Superior style and design

CONS

  • Pricey
  • Need to pay for a subscription and other features

The Google Nest cameras are so much better in every way. The image quality is incredible day or night.” – Leanne

3. YI 1080p Home Camera

Best Budget

YI 1080p Home Camera

Our Rating:

4.6

Wireless home security cameras can indeed be quite pricey. But, the YI 1080p Home Camera says otherwise. This wireless camera is not at all the “you-get-what-you-pay-for” type of camera. The YI 1080p Home Camera functions just as well as the other wireless cameras on this list, but at a very affordable and reasonable price — around $25!

The YI Home Camera features a sleek contemporary look, but it can’t be moved about the house as easily as other security cameras. Since YI can only be tilted vertically, it may be challenging to get a reasonable viewing angle when mounted on a wall in comparison to the Wyze Cam, which has comprehensive pan-tilt lenses. However, its wide-angle lens camera angle compensates for that.

Regardless of the size or form of the space, it is simple to locate a decent perspective that captures most of the area.

In addition, it has two-way audio, sound detection, and its own app.

Perhaps the only drawback of this is the camera’s app. Its interface might need a bit more improvement. It has an inadequate connection. In our experience, buffering takes a few seconds to one minute. It wouldn’t be great for emergency purposes.

Cloud video storage pricing is pretty great, randing at $5-20. The monthly cloud storage costs for YI and Reolink cameras are comparable in price, however, Reolink supports multiple cameras and is far more dependable. For instance, Wyze cameras provide free 14-day cloud services for detection features.

If you choose not to purchase the cloud service, you can use its microSD card storage (card not included upon purchase). Even in regions with a lot of foot activity, the SD card we placed for testing was able to provide us with recorded video for around three days.

Overall, our favorite aspect of the YI 1080p Home Camera is the way it packs fantastic capabilities that are often only found on more costly top cameras into an affordable home camera. These features include smart detection, cloud, and smart home connection. However, we wish that YI had developed high-quality technology to eliminate latency and maintain a continuous connection to its video stream.

PROS

  • Affordable, under $100
  • Competes with high-quality video cameras in the market

CONS

  • The app could use some improvement

I love these things. I bought one to see my cats at my apartment, one to see my car at my boyfriend’s apartment, and one as I gift for a friend I bird-sit for. Intercom works great. I can even talk to Alexa through it. If I don’t see my cats on the camera I will ask her to meow until they come in the room. Night vision is awesome too. I highly recommend getting one of these before being away from your babies too long.” – Katherine Richardson

4. Arlo Pro 3

Best Outdoor Camera

Arlo Pro 3

Our Rating:

4.3

No list of the “best-of-the-best” modern security cameras would be complete without Arlo. The brand has completely changed the game for security cameras. In this review, the Arlo Pro 4 makes it into the best wireless outdoor security camera — its floodlight feature is just superb.

The Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight is a reliable floodlight camera that takes the best of Arlo’s distinct approach, which consists of simple installation and outstanding outdoor cameras.

When compared to a standard security camera, this one amps up the brightness and illuminates a far larger portion of the yard. This not only enhances the color video quality throughout the night but also serves as a physical deterrence to potential invaders.

Additionally, when you need extra light on the backyard, it’s convenient to have a floodlight that can be operated by an app on your smartphone. It’s easy and convenient.

The Arlo floodlight is excellent since it doesn’t need wiring, unlike the Wyze floodlight cameras. Since continuous use of the floodlight may rapidly deplete the battery, Arlo provides an alternative power cord. The cable will cost you an extra $50, but it will allow you to boost the light’s intensity to 3,000 lumens from 2,000 in battery mode.

PROS

  • Simple installation
  • Sleek design

CONS

  • Limited light power on battery (need to pay more for extra light intensity)
  • Fixed spotlight orientation
  • Pricey

I was looking for a flood light for my driveway that had wonderful color night vision. The Arlo floodlight has not disappointing so far. I also purchased the charging cable because I didn’t wanna have to worry about batteries or solar I just wanted to direct power source. The light is very bright I actually even had to tone it back some on the app because it was blindingly bright lol. It has wonderful color night vision, great sound And picks up pictures very clearly. – Robin A

5. Eufy Solo IndoorCam C24

Best Indoor

Eufy Solo IndoorCam C24

Our Rating:

4.6

Need a camera specifically optimized for indoor use? The Eufy Solo IndoorCam C24 is the one for you. It’s easily the best wireless indoor security camera today. It has exceptional 2K video quality as well as an affordable price, allowing you to purchase several home security cameras. Integrations with smart homes are an added plus.

Similar to Wyze, Eufy has a slot for microSD cards for local video storage. This means there are no further costs after purchasing a memory card.

In comparison to Arlo, it’s one of the most smart-home compatible solutions on the market. We really like that it works with Apple HomeKit, a feature that isn’t found on nearly as many other home security cameras as it is on those that work with Amazon’s Alexa and Google’s Home.

If you love Apple HomeKit or are just looking for a high-quality, low-cost indoor camera, we suggest you should consider the Eufy Solo IndoorCam C24.

PROS

  • Superb picture and sound quality
  • Free local storage
  • Reasonably-priced
  • Works with Apple HomeKit, as well as other smart home devices

CONS

  • Not weatherproof, made for indoor use only

I originally got a petcube from seeing them at friend’s house. my use case is 2 cats who I have to leave at home for a few days at a time occasionally and I want to check on them and ensure our automatic feeders keep working as expected. But when I saw the subscription costs, app quality, and general not great quality, I went looking for something else. This is what I found and I am very happy with my Eufy Solo Indoor 2k. Picture quality is very good for the price with a nice wide angle. Ability to continually record to an SD card (I bought a 128gb one that works perfectly) is awesome, and keeping the data local while being able to view live feed via eufy servers is great balance of security and functionality. Overall, very happy.” – HeySkyes
