Finally, we get to the part you’ve been waiting for. Where should you hide your safe? I will mostly be sticking to places inside your own home, but there will be places outside of your home as well if you’d prefer for it not to be inside your house. We’ll start off with the simple places that you can do right now, and go down to the harder but safer options for your valuables.

When it comes to hiding your safe, there are a number of options available to you. Here are 10 of the best places to hide your safe.

1. In a bookcase.

This is an easy and popular option for hiding a safe. Simply find an empty spot in your bookcase and place the safe there. Be sure to arrange the books around the safe so that it is completely hidden. This choice is risky however, especially if your safe doesn’t blend in with your clusters of books and sticks out like a sore metal thumb, so just make a good judgment call if you’d like to hide it there or not.

2. In the back of your closet.

This is a great option if you have a large closet. Simply find an empty space in the back of your closet and place the safe there. Be sure to cover the safe with something so that it is not in plain sight and visible. Make sure if you put it high in your closet that you can reach your valuables with or without a ladder or step stool of some sort.

3. Under the stairs.

This is a great option if you have stairs in your home. Simply find an empty space under the stairs and place the safe there. Be sure to cover the safe with something so that it is not in plain sight. Putting your safe under the stairs is one of the more risky places to put your safe, as it is a place most thieves and most burglars look when trying to rob a house of its valuables.

4. Under a rug or carpet.

This is one of the trickier and harder places to hide a safe, as it calls for you to either already have a hole to place your safe into under the carpet, or for the holder to create one in their floor. If you do choose this hiding spot and make a hole in the floor, lift up the rug or carpet and place the safe underneath. be sure to replace the rug or carpet so that it covers the safe completely. Only use this spot if when you lay the carpet back down that it’s even with the rest of your floor, and that no one will trip or fall when stepping by your safe.

5. Inside a wall.

This place is also a hard place to hide your safe, as it requires you to use a safe, premade hole in your wall, or VERY CAREFULLY make one. It also pushes you to buy a specially made wall safe that is specially created to go into your wall. But if you still choose to hide your safe in your wall, place the safe inside the wall and then put a piece of furniture or a painting or mirror in front of it to conceal it completely. Be careful if you do have to cut a hole into your wall to put your safe into, as you might break something important or cut a wire! And make sure you can gain access and have easy access to your wall safe.

6. In a toybox.

If you have small children in your home, they probably have a toybox. This is a great hiding spot for your hidden safe, as it needs no preparation, and thieves normally wouldn’t look into a toybox for expensive items. Simply place the safe in the bottom of the toybox and then pile toys on top of it. Make sure your kids or family members know that’s where you’re storing your safe though, so nobody gets confused!

7. In the attic or basement.

This is a great hiding spot for a small safe or floor safe, as robbers normally don’t want to go up or down into the attic or basement, as it is loud and could disturb unwanted attention for them. Simply find an empty space in either of these areas and place the safe there.

8. In a cabinet or drawer.

This is a great option if you have any extra cabinets or drawers. Simply place the safe in the cabinet or drawer and you’re all good to go. If other things are being kept in the drawer with your safe though, make sure that none of the things in the cabinet or drawer are too breakable.

9. Under a bed frame.

This is a great option if you have a bed frame that has a huge area under it. Simply put your safe under your bed frame and mattress, and either push it as far back as you can or cover it with other things. Make sure it doesn’t endanger the comfortability of anyone sleeping on the mattress above it though!

10. Safe deposit box at the bank.

This is probably the safest option for hiding your safe. Simply take your safe to your local bank and rent a safe deposit box. Be sure to keep the key to the box in a safe place so that you do not lose it.

So there you have it. Now you know why you should hide your home safe in the first place, what things of yours you should even hide in it, and 10 places where you can hide your safe. Obviously there are other places you can hide your things to keep your safe hidden, like under your bed frame, behind a hidden door, or in an old box, but we gave you 10 places to start with.

Be creative and think outside the box when it comes to hiding your safe in your home. The most important thing when trying to find a hiding place for all your valuables and safe is that you hide it in a place where it will be safe and hard to spot with the naked eye. And if it’s hard for you to find your hidden safe sometimes, you can rest well knowing your things are safe from harm.
